Girls Varsity Track · Carrollton Brings Home Hardware at D3 State Finals

  Place Points
Carrollton High School 21st 11

We were overjoyed to have 5 Carrollton athletes competing at the D3 State meet this year. The Jenison track and field was full of energy and our ladies were eager to race. After a few rain delays,(4 hours in total) we were able to get on the track and showcase our speed.

In the preliminary rounds, our senior hurdler, Jaliyah Baskin placed 3rd with a 16.05 good enough for a finals apperance. She came out of the blocks strong and cleared the first three hurdles with ease. One hurdle snagged her trail leg and slowed her pace slightly, but she finished the race strong with a 18.55, and took home 7th place! There were many hurdlers who got bit by the hurdles, due to wet track surface and long rain delays. Over 10 did so.

In the 300m hurldes Jaliyah was seeded in lane 8 and even with some hiccups, she ran her second fastest time in her prep career posting a 47.81 earning a 5th place finish, improving on her 15th place finish last year at states.

The 4x200m Relay of, 11th graderTamia Shivers, 9th grader Angel Monroe, 12th grader Amari Jones and 12th grader Makaela Thompson record a season best of 1:50.93 earning them a 14th place finish.

The 4x100m Relay of, Tamia Shivers, Jaliyah Baskin, Makaela Thompson and Amari Jones competed for the 2nd year in a row and posted a season best 51.09 earning 4th place, improving on a 5th place finish from last years state finals.

The lady Cavaliers earned 11 points placing 21st overall out of 120+ schools at the D3 State Finals. We are very proud of these young ladies accomplishments and to our 3 seniors, we say thank you for all you hard work and dedication to the Carrollton Track Program. We send them into the next phase of life as 2 time and 5 time All State Athleltes!

To the returning 2 athletes, we say thank you and glad to have you for another season. They are great leaders to have coming back for next season.

Until then, we will be grinding in the off season and coming back ready to go. Even faster, stronger and more ready to work towards that 1st state title!

Thank you to all the supporters and fans. We cannot wait to get back at it!
