In Carrollton’s first regional final since 2001 the Carrollton Cavalier boys lost to Bridgeport 53-54. It was a tough game that came down to the wire and Bridgeport made a basket with 3 seconds left to give them the one point edge. The Cavaliers started hot going up 13-2 part way through the first quarter buy the bearcat pressure and a slew of fouls helped them chip away at the lead leaving Carrollton ahead by one after one. The second quarter was a lot of the same with Carrollton and Bridgeport going back and forth seeing a tie game going into the half. The third quarter stayed tight with Carrollton leading by one after 3 quarters and the fourth was no different seeing each team take the lead multiple times. Bridgeport fouled DJ Voltz with one min to go and he put the Cavs up one, Bridgeport went down and got another bucket, but Carrollton stayed focused and watched Marco Broome-Hernandez hit a jumper at the elbow to put the Cavs up one with 25 seconds to go. Bridgeport got the ball back and ran their play to give them a very difficult contested shot that somehow dropped in with 3 seconds to go. The Cavs came out of their timeout and had the ball but the half court shot was no good leaving the Cavs down 1 when the final buzzer went off. Carrollton finished the season at 15-5.
