Very pleased as a Coach today!!???? We took a total of 11 female and 10 male athletes to compete at SVSU D3/D4 Indoor meet Friday, 3-22-2019.
Out of those, 3 young men placed 4th, 3rd and 1st to earn a team total of 20 points.
9th grader Derrick Voltz ran 7.49 in the 60M dash prelims for 1st place then in the finals ran 7.52 for a bronze.
12th grader Anthony Rodriguez placed 4th in the 800M.
For the young women, they earned 17 medals with 14 bronze finishes, 1 silver and 2 gold for a team total of 58 points.
They placed in 9 (60M, 60MH, 200M, 400M, 800M, 4x300M, 4x600M, Shot Put, Long Jump) of 11 entered events of 13 total. We had 2 of our athletes win by a healthy margin in both the preliminaries and finals of the 60M dash and the 60M Hurdles.
-11th grader Tamia Shivers won both prelims and finals in the 60M dash with times of 8.39 and 8.38.

-Our hurdler had set the meet record last year in the 60M Hurdles with a 9.92. Today Jaliyah Baskin ran times of 10.10 and 9.72 in the finals to break her old meet record.
-Our 4x300M relay team of T. Shivers, A. Jones, T. Pitre and M. Thompson placed 3rd.

-12th grader Jaliyah Baskin placed 5th in the Long Jump.

This meet was not scored by teams but by individuals, though I think our lady cavaliers would have taken 1st for sure!
